In recent months, there has been an increase in competition between companies in the Internet market in terms of price and speed. Customers have not been spared the problem of not getting internet at the said speed.
Till May, no package of internet service above 100 Mbps was available in Nepali market. In the last six months, consumers have been able to get 600 Mbps speed internet at a competitive price.
As service providers have announced, there is plenty of room for suspicion in providing high speed internet. The self-regulatory body, the Telecommunications Authority, is not convinced that a company announcing a high-speed internet package can provide speed as per the package.
Due to increased competition in the market, companies are bringing packages of ‘speed war’ one after another. The Internet market is booming, but consumers are not sure how much they will benefit from it.
WorldLink Communications last Wednesday unveiled a 600 Mbps internet package for the first time in Nepal. The day after WorldLink announced the package with the assurance of providing at least 150 Mbps internet speed, Classic Tech announced on social media that it will soon offer 1 Gbps internet speed.
In Nepal, service providers have been scrambling to provide high speed internet in recent days. With the announcement of high speed internet service by some companies, the trend of others surpassing it has increased since CG Communications of Chaudhary Group started internet service.
CG Communications had brought 120 Mbps speed internet package on 18 June 2078 for one thousand rupees. Other companies also came under pressure after CG started offering high speed internet at cheaper rates.
Before the advent of CG, Dishome Fiber Net 100 Mbps internet service was the only high speed internet package available in the market. The ‘speed war’ between the companies started after CG announced the cheapest packages in the market.
Immediately after CG, Subisu brought 150 Mbps internet speed. Meanwhile, Vyanet and Classic Tech also revised their old packages and announced a package of 100 Mbps. Vianet is no longer at the old speed, the company has brought 175 Mbps internet speed.
WorldLink had introduced 300 Mbps internet service, surpassing Dishome, CG Net and Subisu after other companies appeared aggressive in the market.
Now that WorldLink has announced a package of 600 Mbps speed with standard routers, other companies are under pressure again. Now, if the service is started as announced by Classic Tech, you will not have to wait long to get 1 Gbps (1024 Mbps) internet service in Nepal.
