A crowd has gathered at Sirandanda in Ajirkot village of Gorkha district to play in the snow. Locals said that people have reached various places including Gorkha district headquarters, Tanahu, Lamjung and Palungtar after the snowfall on Friday morning.
“There were so many snow players on Saturday that motorcycles and small vehicles were jammed from Bhachchek Bazaar,” said Tayraj Gurung, chairman of Ajirkot-3. “All the hotels in and around Bhachchek Bazaar are full.” There are also guests in the homestay of Sirandanda, Namki. Most of them were tourists returning in the morning and in the evening. The road leading to Sirandanda was very busy during the day. “More than 3,000 people may have come,” said Chairman Gurung.
Due to the snowfall on Friday and Saturday being a holiday, there were many people going to play in the snow. As it was a holiday, the job seekers also got a suitable time to go for a walk. According to locals, it has been snowing in Vachchek Bazaar for a long time. Premmaya Tamang of Namki Homestay said that the business has also been helped due to the activities of the guests who come to play in the snow. She said the coveted homestay and local business grew because of tourists coming to play in the snow.
The roads leading to Bhachchek, Namki and Sirandanda through Palungtar and Chhoprak from Gorkha district headquarters are blacktop, so small vehicles can pass easily. It is also easy for those who travel on motorcycles to travel. The number of people going to play snow in Bhachchek has increased due to the blacktop road that can be easily reached in two hours from the Gorkha headquarters.
The number of people going to play snow in Barpak, Gupsipakha of Laprak had also increased on Saturday. Due to the distance and unpaved road from Sirandanda, the number of people going to Barpak and Laprak was less on Saturday than that of Bhachchek.
