The ‘ Pathshala CUG Service’ being distributed by Nepal Telecom has been made available to public school employees, parents and school board members at concessional rates. The service, which was earlier used for school teachers and students, will be available to parents and school board members.
Earlier, the telco had distributed ‘Pathshala CUG service’ at a concessional rate to the public school teachers and students of class 1 to 12 across the country so that they would not be deprived of education in case of an epidemic.
Under this service, it costs only Rs. 99 per month (excluding government tax and ownership tax) for the client to be affiliated with one of the public schools and join the company’s institutional user group. It will also provide unlimited voice service within the closed group to the affiliated service recipients. Earlier, five GB of data was available for the use of educational materials on the website of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development. According to him, the facility of sending bulk SMS within this group without any additional charge is still there. In addition, 1 GB of data for any purpose at any time and the facility to send 100 SMS within the group has been added.
How to be a participant
Telecom’s GSM or CDMA prepaid mobile number is required to join the ‘Pathshala CUG SIM’ scheme introduced by Telecom. The prepaid SIM card already in use can be added to the plan and those who do not have a prepaid SIM card can get a new prepaid SIM card free of cost.
The school should prepare the details including the mobile numbers and names of all the teachers, students and parents affiliated to the ‘Pathshala CUG SIM’ in the prescribed format. The details should be paid by contacting the nearest Nepal Telecom office with the recommendation of the local level. After that, the information of Pathshala CUG service will be available through SMS to all the mobile numbers affiliated to the group.
Spokesperson Joshi informed that even after this period, the SIM used for free can be used continuously like other users. According to him, except for the contingency education plan 2077, the school CUG service can be obtained by paying a lump sum of Rs. 99 per member (excluding government tax and ownership tax) at the counter of Nepal Telecom on the recommendation of the school. It is stated that local level recommendation is not required for that service.
