Butterfly is a beautiful creation of nature. It is a joy to see a colorful butterfly. The sight of flying in the flowers fluttering away the pain. Even in the ongoing lockdown, a young man from Pokhara has earned self-satisfaction by studying dolls.

Sajan KC of Lakeside Pokhara, who has been studying butterflies and other insects for the past three years, has studied 40 new species of butterflies in Lookdown and even taken pictures of them.

KC, who had been teaching at Ishaneshwar High School in Lamjung, Vorletar, was there when the lockdown started. There is a rural lifestyle. Midung and Pisti rivers flow in the village where various butterflies move.

He spent a month and a half studying the same butterfly with a camera. Later he returned to Pokhara. He is still studying dolls in the backyard. “Studying dolls gives you self-satisfaction,” says KC. “I will write a big book about dolls in Nepal in the future.”

Butterflies are the bundles of shrikhand for those who understand and khurpa for those who do not understand. This is of great importance. Her beauty heals the mind. Butterflies are of great importance even in pollination. Butterflies are also an integral part of biodiversity. There are records of 669 species of butterflies in Nepal. Of these, KC has studied 280 species.

There are two types of butterflies. Those who fly during the day are called diurnal and those who fly at night are called nocturnal. He wants to study both types of butterflies. He has also created a Facebook group called ‘Insect World Nepal’ to spread awareness about butterfly conservation.

The leader in the study of butterflies in Nepal is Putali Baje (Colin Smith). He has written a book by studying dolls. Having spent his life in search of dolls, he has devoted himself to study in Pokhara in his old age.

After him, Surendra Pariyar and Sajan KC are active in this field. Puppet vendor Pitt Vender also travels around Nepal, India and Bhutan.
